About the save the date card
A save the date is short by design: your names, the dates and the city. It works especially well for destination weddings and for the busy winter wedding season, when guests juggle several weddings and need to plan travel and leave.
There isn’t a dedicated save the date design in the app yet. The designs below adapt well: change the heading to “Save the Date” and keep the rest simple.
What to include on the card
- “Save the Date” as the heading
- Both names
- The dates — a range if the functions run over several days
- The city or destination
- “Formal invitation to follow”

Questions
Save the Date invitation FAQs
When should we send a save the date?
4–6 months before the wedding, and earlier for destination weddings so guests can book travel and leave.
Is a save the date necessary for an Indian wedding?
It’s optional, but useful when many guests travel, when the wedding falls in peak season, or when the full invitation won’t be ready for a while.
Should the venue go on a save the date?
The city is enough. The venue, timings and list of functions belong on the full invitation.
