About the haldi invitation
The haldi — also called pithi or ubtan — is one of the most joyful functions of the week: turmeric paste, music and plenty of mess. Haldi cards are usually warm and informal, and they often ask guests to wear yellow.
Haldi Mornings pairs jasmine curtains with a turmeric-and-leaf palette and a saffron Om, and already includes the line “Come dressed in shades of yellow”.
What to include on the card
- “Haldi” or “Haldi Ceremony” as the heading
- The bride’s or groom’s name — or both, for a shared haldi
- Date and a morning or afternoon time
- Venue, often the family home
- A dress code line: “Wear yellow” or “Dress to get messy”

Questions
Haldi invitation FAQs
What colour should a haldi invitation be?
Yellow and marigold orange are traditional, often with green leaves and white jasmine.
Should the haldi card mention a dress code?
It helps. Most families ask guests to wear yellow, and one light line on the card saves a lot of questions.
Can we send the haldi card separately from the wedding card?
Yes. Many families send a separate card for each function on WhatsApp, so guests invited to only some functions receive just those.
