About the roka invitation
The roka is the first formal step in many North Indian weddings: both families accept the match, exchange gifts and bless the couple. It is usually small and arranged quickly, so the invitation is often a simple digital card shared on WhatsApp within days of fixing the date.
Saffron Rangoli opens with || श्री गणेशाय नमः || in Hindi, with a saffron Ganesha, a lotus and diyas between the names, and a flower rangoli at the base.
What to include on the card
- An invocation such as || श्री गणेशाय नमः ||
- “Roka Ceremony” as the heading
- Both names
- Date and time
- Venue — often one family’s home

Questions
Roka invitation FAQs
What is a roka ceremony?
A pre-engagement ceremony, common in Punjabi and North Indian families, where both families formally accept the match and bless the couple.
Can I add a Hindi blessing to a roka card?
Yes. Saffron Rangoli already has || श्री गणेशाय नमः || at the top, and you can type Hindi into any line of any card.
Does a roka need a formal invitation?
Usually not. A roka is often close family only, so a short digital card on WhatsApp is enough.
